One month with Logan!

Time seems to be flying by! How is it that pregnancies seem to drag on forever but once the baby has arrived time simply disappears! Month one was packed full of doctor appointments and major recovery time for me. I was surprised (and thrilled) to find that c-section #2 seemed to be a significantly easier recovery. We had to take Logan to the doctor almost every other day to have his weight checked, my kiddos don't like to be in any hurry to gain their weight back! Logan got pretty little at his lowest weight of 6lbs 4oz. I was happy when he started to gain some, he was just seeming so fragile! At almost one month old he got back to his birth weight of a whopping 7-1!

We were in the hospital for a few days after he was born and when it was time to go home I was so excited! I love my time in the hospital, its a very special bonding time! Plus the nurses are so great about helping me get back on my feet quickly. However, when they said I could go home I couldn't hop (or be wheeled) into the car fast enough! I missed Lola like crazy! William and I were both excited to have our whole family together! We arrived home and Lola & my Mom had decorated with balloons all the way down our walkway to welcome us home, it was so fun! Thank you Mom! : )

Lola was so happy to have her little brother home! After some family time and a few pictures I got to sleep a little bit, I'm not sure I have ever been more tired in my entire life! I had not slept a single wink in more than 3 days and that combined with the fantastic drugs they had me on, I was feeling a little loopy to say the least. :)

Lots of rest for all of us the first few days! Logan is a good little sleeper! He sleeps non stop, wish I could see his little eyes open more often! His first outing was to one of our favorite restaurants after seeing the doctor again. He slept through the whole meal. : ) It sure was great to get out of the house for a little bit! He made his first appearances at church, had his first ferry boat ride, a few trips to my parents cabin, went out ballroom dancing with us, and a few other small outings. It was a pretty low key month for the most part though.
I kept trying to help William with all the diaper changes that I could, which were very few being that I was fairly immobile. I am still getting use to changing a boys' diaper... its just, different. I am not sure I have ever laughed harder than when I was trying to do William a "favor" by changing Logan's diaper and as soon as I started Logan peed all the way accross the bathroom mirror, he then proceeded to poo as well! I was such a mess, I hurt myself by jumping away so hard I was almost crying and then William walked in, asked what I was doing, and I replied through my laughing tears, "trying to help you!" Needless to say he took over. :)
The plan was to have Logan in his bassinet next to our bed but he didn't dig it! He would not sleep AT. ALL. in it! He ended up liking sleeping in his bouncy chair that vibrates in the middle of our bed. He slept there for weeks before he finally was okay with the bassinet. It worked out just as well because I was a nervous wreck since he was coughing up and choking on junk that was in his lungs for quite a few days. It was scary time, so it was nice to have him so close. At one week old Logan woke up with an awful eye infection, it looked terrible! Another doctor appt and we were reassured it was a super common tear duct infection. : ) This boy is keeping us on our toes!
Logan is a cuddle bug for sure! I cant set him down for even a minute without him crying! I have pretty much accepted it and been trying to enjoy all the snuggle time, because as cliche as it may be, its true what they say- it goes by so fast!

Lola still adores her little "brudder" to pieces! She gets very worried when others hold him, she makes sure to tell me that we need to get him back! : ) Lola is a big helper too! I had no idea she would be so great with him! She gives him his pacifier all the time, likes to help feed him his bottle, talks to him to calm him down, and loves to give him hugs and kisses all day long! She told me a few days ago we needed a new baby, I asked her if she wanted to give Logan back and she said "No Mom, I just want 2 Logans!" It made me smile, she has loved him since before he was born! I hope and pray they will always be close friends!

Looking forward to the next month of getting to know this little boy! What an amazing blessing and addition to our family he has been already! Here are photos from our first month together!
