Welcome to the world Logan!

My heart is so full of Joy right now! Three weeks ago we welcomed our little boy into this world! He is healthy and adorable! (Yes, we are probably a bit bias!) We announced that I was pregnant on Christmas Day and boy does that feel like a hundred years ago now! Pregnancies have proven to be very difficult for me. This time was much better than last time though which we were all grateful for! Mentally it was easier this time since I knew the huge reward that was waiting for me at the end! :) This time we also had a huge support system and good friends within our church which turned out to be quite the blessing!

I had a scheduled C-section for this birth. It was nice knowing (since all went as planned) our son's birthday! I was about to burst with anticipation that last month though. I just wanted to be on the other side of the surgery. Its a scary thing to mentally prepare for. But when the day finally arrived, everything went great! We left at 6am for the hospital and Lola stayed with a babysitter. I didn't sleep a wink the night before, it was just like the night before the first day of school as a kid! :)

Logan Lee was born at 8:43am and weighed 7lbs 1oz. and was 19 in long. He was a tiny little guy! We had arranged for Lola to come meet Logan sometime in the afternoon after I was able to sit up and get dressed, I didn't want to scare her and wanted to look as healthy and normal as possible to her. :) Sitting on the bed introducing Lola to Logan is a memory I will treasure forever! Lola was so excited to meet him and it went great! A huge thank you to my parents who had Lola staying with them while I was in the hospital for three days! She had such a great time! :)

Our transition at home has been thankfully very easy! Lola adores her little brother and wants to help him with everything. I ask her if she will watch him for me for a second while I make a bottle and I hear her talking to him "its okay baby brother! I'm your big sister Lola, i'm here!" It makes my heart smile! Looking forward to being completely recovered and living life like normal as a family of 4. Here are some pictures of our little man's birthday! :)

We love him to pieces! He already is adding so much to our family! :) Of course we are super sleep deprived and a little zombie like right now, but we are soaking up every minute because we have learned first hand how fast this time goes! :)

A Quick Ocean Getaway!

Well its been a while again since my last post...I think I am ready to accept the fact I am unfortunately not going to be a very consistent blogger! Good news to share first! We have a new addition to our family! A healthy little baby boy has joined us and we couldn't be happier! That blog will be next though. : )

At 36 weeks pregnant we decided to run away for one last getaway before our precious baby boy joined our family. We enjoyed two nights in Ocean Shores playing at the beach, it was absolutely perfect! It was a great chance to forget all the chaos life seems to bring and just enjoy our family!

Right when we arrived we went to the beach to walk for a little bit and watch the sunset. It was so incredibly windy...Lola freaked out. The forecast said the whole weekend would be windy so I was worried we would not get to spend anytime at the beach like we had planned. Lola also does not like to get dirty, as hard as ive tried to explain to her that it is okay to get dirty, she will cry until you give her a bath or at least some clean clothes! She was sobbing due to the fact she got sand on her feet. It was rough. :( Luckily, after an extensive chat and a pair of "special sand shoes" the next day she was ready to get dirty, dig in the sand, and run in the water! It was perfect. The wind had died down too!

I love this sequence of pictures :) One of Lola's favorite thing to do was run into the ocean with us and when a big wave started coming towards her she would run away as fast as possible. This time the wave proved to be much larger than we anticipated and William had to scoop her up quickly, she was giggling so hard! :)

My little girl has a very big girl bed! :)

I set a few goals for myself and Lola to reach before her little brother arrives! 1. Lola must be potty trained! Success! She did great, easy cheesy for the most part! Cant afford two kiddos being in diapers, nor do I want to change two kiddos diapers! : ) 2. Move Lola from her crib into a big girl bed. This one I gave a truckload of thought to because Lola LOVED her crib! (And never climbed out!) She would play happily in there for hours, and I had been warned by many that when you make the switch to a bed, naps and such go out the window. Also with baby #2 being a c-section it will be impossible for me to get her in and out of bed for a while. So that is why I decided the time to do it is now, while I can focus on her, making it exciting and special, and try and get her back into a routine of napping in her new bed! Lets just say everyone who warned me was right! Naps have pretty much all but seized to exist these days, which is brutal! But it could be worse had I waited until baby Logan is here and then tried to make the switch. She still has "quiet time" (which is not very quiet) everyday. For the first time in weeks she took a nap the last two days and I am hoping it'll become the new normal again!

Alrighty, on to the bedroom! As you saw in a previous post I made Lola's curtains for her room, and once I saw her bed all set up I quickly decided it was screaming for matching pillows! William said I was ambitious with my sewing projects considering how much I have sewn before, but of course I needed to add ruffled edging and zippers! : ) My husband is the best, he always walks me through what I am doing! Even though this pillow project took place at 2am since I wanted them finished before a baby shower we were having at our home the next day, I heard not one complaint from my overly tired hubby! :) After a trip to Joanns, I had all my supplies and got to work! I decided to buy the pillows that are ready to insert and just sew cases for them. I have made other pillows that I stuffed myself and they just turned out looking so lumpy! It took a while to pin and sew the ribboned ruffles, but I couldn't be happier with how they turned out! (Some of these photos are just iphone photos so excuse the quality!)

Here is a picture of Lola's room from when her crib was still in it, her room seemed a lot bigger! When we bought her crib we decided to go with a convertible crib so that when this time came we could just move her into a full size bed and skip the toddler bed stage all together. I am super happy we decided to do that! I cant even count how many times everyone told me to give Lola's crib to Logan, which seems like the logical thing to do, but I wanted to keep her bedroom set together! We bought another convertible crib for Logan's room that matches a dresser picked out just for him! Both our kids now have bedroom sets that will last them a very long time! It is really nice now when Lola wakes up in the middle of the night upset, or is sick, that we can just go crawl in bed with her, and not let her get in the habit of joining us in our bed... something we never have and never will start with any of our kids! :)

This picture was Lolas first night in her new bed! She was sooo excited to have a bed just like mommy and daddys! We made the change on a Friday evening expecting it to be slightly challenging, but it was as smooth as one could have hoped! She has rails that pop up on either side so she doesn't fall out! :) Doesn't she look so little in this huge bed? Half the time she sleeps upside down or sideways!
