Sewing Curtains!

This post is a sequel to the"Lola's pink wing" post from a few weeks ago. If you read that post you will remember I mentioned that I wanted to sew curtains for Lola's room. I knew what I wanted for her room for a while now but it took me a little while to find the materials I was looking for. I do not know anything about sewing, except that when I don't find what I am looking for in a store, I figure that I could always sew something. So that is exactly what I did! I looked all over for some girly black and white polka dotted print curtains and came up empty handed. So off to the fabric store I went. I really do not know anything about fabric, except for what I think looks pretty and what I wanted to avoid and that is anything that looked cheap... I just didn't want this project to scream homemade! I found this great print at Joannes on sale and it is a gorgeous silk material. Next I thought it would be fun to make them look a little softer and add some pink ruffles to the inner edge. Then I sewed up some tie back pieces and held them with bows...(you can never have too many bows!) I was surprised how easy they were to make and I was pretty happy with how they turned out! A big thanks to my fantastic hubby who helped me plan them out...yes he knows how to sew, isn't that awesome? I am definitely feeling inspired to take on more curtain projects for other rooms in the house now...well maybe in January! :)
